What if all your favorite mutants are back and join hands to save the world? Well, it would be amazing, isn’t it? That’s what happens in this seventh installment of ‘X-Men‘ series. Forget the 6 Avengers, this X-Men movie has about 20 mutants all trying to save their species. The cast ranges from the 23 year old extremely talented Jennifer Lawrence (Raven aka Mystique) to 74-year-old Ian McKellan (Magneto) and includes Halle Berry, who first played Storm in 2000’s original “X-Men” but hasn’t returned in eight years, and Hugh Jackman, who was seen as a mutant on the big screen last summer.
Director Bryan Singer has not at all wasted time to make you grip to your seats. The film opens with a disastrous war between the sentinels and mutants. And let us tell you that the sentinels seem inevitable. The war is so chaotic yet interesting that you won’t move your eyes from the screen even if the world was coming to an end! After a kickass start, Professor x, Magneto and Wolverine walk in and meet all the new mutants who are trying to save their species.
But since the war is inevitable and sentinels have all the power they need to eradicate the existence of mutants. Professor X discovers one solution to end the war, which is to change the past. (Spoiler Alert!) Some actions of Mystique in past that is in 1973, results in the birth of sentinels. Now, Logan has to go in the past and stop Mystique from making a mistake. But this isn’t easy as he has to take help of the younger Professor X and younger magneto, who basically hated each other in that time.
The flashback of 1973, will provoke lot of laughter from Lava Lamps, Pong, Ding Dongs to sloshing water beds! You will see Peter Dinklage playing the role of Dr. Bolivar Trask, who is reason behind the creation of sentinels. It is good to see such a excellent actor in such a villainous yet genuine role.
The film so beautiful merges the past and present that it will make you believe in the world of mutants and their struggle to save their species. With a movie with such a huge story to tell and so much action, there are moments which you will take along with you when you walk out of the theater. The moment where Charles (young Professor X) and Professor X come face to face and Professor X, is the moment where the film gets its pace and Charles Xavier gets back his powers.
When it was said, Evan Peter’s Quicksilver is going to be one of the highlight of the movie, we bet they said it right. He is the one to watch out for! From the prison breaking the Pentagon to free Magento to artistically arranging the bullets when the time freezes, he does everything with an remarkable ease! Well, not to forget, when Magneto displaces the whole stadium and breaks the White House, your mind will be blown!
For the non-fanboys, this movie can be a little bit confusing. So, you might wanna do some research and go. But for the fans, this movie is complete treat! Though, there are some unanswered question of whether Magneto is good? Bad? evil? Professor X’s revival after his zapped into someone’s body and approached Wolverine at the end of The Wolverine. These questions are unanswered and don’t expect them to be answered.
